POLARIS LEADERSHIP NETWORK
I was connected with Chelsea Smith, the Communications and Content Manager of Polaris Young Adult Leadership Network, to document a closing and opening retreat for two fellowship cohorts in their program.
I followed these groups over the course of a few days and blended in as a DP and camera operator that sought to understand the group dynamic and spirit — the edit reflects this attention and the group’s responses to the short film was affirming of my vision. In addition to the retreats, I created a multi-camera set and directed lighting and sound for a handful of sit-down interviews as well as street-style interviews during this time. The soundbites were carefully selected through longer presentations and mixed by me.
As the academic year was approaching and as their social media team was beginning to solidify the quality of their content, Princeton Theological Seminary reached out to create a short and fun series for prospective students. This is a simple video series that was meant to be digestible, shareable, and of high production quality so that it could be used for years to come without feeling outdated.
On this project, I advised the social media team on art direction, was the lighting director, director of photography, editor, colorist, and motion graphics designer. With the interviews carefully directed and filmed, I determined the editing pace, music choice, and content that would make for seamless transitions and cuts. Being the DP on set, I was also able to guide some of the interviewees to phrase their answers in ways that would reflect smoothly in the edit. I worked with Social Media Manager, Eunice Woo, and Director of Marketing and Integrated Content, Cherrelle Nicholson to deliver the content and was recommended for more collaborative work with programs in the institution as a highly skilled, quick, and thoughtful production and editing lead.
